Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit BE?
UAE ordinary passport holders can travel to Belgium visa-free for tourism, staying up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. As of 30 May 2026, holders of an ordinary United Arab Emirates passport do NOT need a visa to visit Belgium for tourism or short stays. Belgium is part of the Schengen Area, and the EU lifted the Schengen visa requirement for Emirati nationals on 7 May 2015 under a visa-waiver agreement. Travelers may enter visa-free and stay up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period for tourism, business or family visits — this allowance is shared across all Schengen countries, not per country. At the border you must hold a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure and issued within the last 10 years, and you may be asked to show proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, sufficient funds and travel medical insurance. The EU's ETIAS travel authorisation is scheduled to launch in the last quarter of 2026 and will only become mandatory after a transitional period (expected around 2027); it is NOT yet required on today's date. The new Entry/Exit System (EES) for biometric border registration is also being rolled out. A Schengen visa is only required if you intend to stay longer than 90 days or for purposes such as work or study, which require a national long-stay (D) visa.
